In her first month, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasizes a more institutional style of governance, reducing personalism and focusing on direct communication with the public. This shift also marks a continuation of the Fourth Transformation's agenda.

Claudia Sheinbaum Establishes New Communication Style

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo celebrates one month at the helm of Mexico with a personal stamp where the prominence of the presidential figure has diminished and is now more institutional. Among the words or concepts most mentioned by the president is precisely her predecessor Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Political analysts have reviewed some of the words most used by President Sheinbaum during October in her conferences, tours, and public appearances. It is confirmed that her discourse is more formal and institutional, as revealed by the "Sheinbaumpedia." The word "people" stands out, with nearly 22,000 mentions, and it is surprising that, despite former President López Obrador no longer making public appearances, he remains present in Sheinbaum's discourse, with almost a thousand mentions in her first month of government.

Artemisa Montes Sylván, a postgraduate specialist at the Faculty of Law at La Salle University, highlights the importance of the word "people" as a governmental emblem that reinforces the idea of a government for and by the people. Enrique Gutiérrez Márquez, a researcher and academic at the Department of Social Sciences and Politics at Ibero-American University Mexico City, considers that Sheinbaum's discourse differs from her predecessor, although it maintains a constant reference to the "Second Floor," and emphasizes the importance of evaluating her management after the first 100 days of government.

Gutiérrez Márquez highlights a construction of a discursive distance from the figure of the former president, a relative independence that indicates a different transition in Mexican politics, more negotiated and soft. President Sheinbaum has addressed topics such as Republican Austerity in government during her first month and has announced that two new ministries will begin operations in January: Women, and Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation.
